ChatBrief Privacy Policy
ChatBrief is designed to process selected text locally in the browser.
Data Handling
- ChatBrief only processes text the user explicitly selects.
- Selected text is not stored.
- Selected text is not transmitted to external servers.
- Selected text is not synced across devices.
- Browsing history is not collected.
- Analytics are not collected.
- Tracking is not used.
- No account, login, API key, backend, or cloud storage is used.
Summarisation
ChatBrief uses local summarisation only:
- Chrome’s built-in Summarizer API, when available on the user’s Chrome installation and device.
- A lightweight local extractive summariser fallback when Chrome’s built-in summarisation is unavailable.
No external AI API, account, API key, backend, or cloud storage is used.

These permissions are used only to support the user-initiated right-click summary workflow.
Limited Use Statement
ChatBrief’s use of information is limited to its single purpose: summarising text explicitly selected by the user. ChatBrief does not sell, transfer, or use selected text for advertising, analytics, tracking, or any unrelated purpose.
